I had the pleasure of managing two distinctly different, yet oftentimes similar, uPortal/CAS projects this summer. These projects were for Fort Lewis College and Sacramento State, and both recently wrapped up successfully.

uPortal 3.0.2 is a patch release incorporating significant performance enhancements and numerous other fixes beyond uPortal 3.0.1. Eric Dalquist today announced the general availability of uPortal 3.0.2.

Those of you who have read my previous blogs probably know that I've been working on an open source Java project called Cernunnos for some time now (okay -- in this case "some time" is a bit over two years). I'm happy to report that yesterday The Cernunnos Project announced its first release: version 1.0.0.

I saw Steven Ryan of the Kaiser Permanente Hayward Physical Therapy Fellowship in Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy post job descriptions for a web technologist and an instructional designer on the Sakai open forum email list (there posted because the program is undergoing a transformation to move from a traditional classroom setting to a hybrid online environment using Sakai) and I re-post this opportunity here in order to help draw more attention to it.

Here's something you really should know if you use the MS SQL Server database platform and you're considering an upgrade to uPortal 3: you will need to enable the ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION and READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT options in your portal database. If you don't enable them, you'll encounter a nasty issue in the area of portlet preferences.
