Portlet Development Training for uPortal

Portlet Development serves as an introduction and guide to developing standards-compliant portlets. Lecture and hands-on exercises range from the building and deployment of portlets to techniques for organizing code in a clean architecturally sound way.

Portal Developers

Recommended Preparation

• Java
• JDK 1.5 and 1.6 language features
• Familiar with Ant build tools
• Familiar with Maven2 build tools
• Familiar with a source control management system (e.g. SVN)
• Written at least one Servlet web application
• Author JSPs, including use of JSTL
• Helpful to have seen an MVC framework

If you are a new comer, familiarize yourself with the contents of the books Head First Java, Head First Servlets, and JSP before the training.
